Who is going to Mars?

Meet Central Europe is a conference focused on vendor management (i.e. working with translators and interpreters) and all the associated challenges.

We have taken part in MCE several times before but this year, this year will be special, even magical! The conference will be virtual and is moving to Mars itself, where we are sending a growing and absolutely fantastic team of five women.

Let’s introduce them all individually:

Gabriela Kadlecová – Vendor Manager

I am really looking forward to this year’s MCE, not only as a vendor manager at Czech Translations, but also an organiser. I am glad that after two successful years and a series of webinars, we have managed to prepare an interesting event in these complicated times, which is almost literally like from another planet and where agencies, translators and even end clients can find new partners.

I am looking forward to the discussion groups with colleagues, where we will be discussing trends together, as well as the panels with end clients, where we will be sharing insights from current market developments.

Don’t forget to stop by our virtual station on your space mission!

Jaroslava Lanská – Vendor Manager

I have been in the translation industry for several years, both as a translator and as an agency manager. In an age of automation and increasing reliance on machines, the most important thing for me is still having an individual, human approach as well as the quality of the work done.

Doing MCE online means I am looking forward to meeting a lot of interesting people from all over the world, and discussing the latest news in the field as well as those evergreen, as yet unresolved questions.

Kateřina Tomíčková – Project Manager

I am thrilled to be attending this year’s MCE conference. This is my first time, so I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to talk about the various aspects of our ever-changing industry with people who are just as passionate about translation and localisation as I am. I’m glad I’ll have the opportunity to strengthen relationships with colleagues I only know through emails and to meet new faces in the translation industry.

Even though we’ll be on the red planet, we’ll still be on top of the world!

Irena Šotková – Account Manager

In my many years of working in translation services, I have had the opportunity to try my hand at many roles, translate hundreds of pages of text, attend various conferences and courses, and meet many great professionals in our field. I like having direct personal contact with people here on Earth so participating in the MCE 2021 online conference is going to be an interesting challenge for me.

I am sure that it’s going to be a positive new experience for me and that our meeting on Mars will convince me that it can be an enjoyable and enriching occasion. I look forward to seeing you at our virtual booth!

Klára Svozilová – Sales Manager

In one of my previous blog posts, I said that you can always find a reason to celebrate and that you should take advantage of every opportunity. And now the time is right!

I know that having the MCE conference online is not what we are used to, especially since it’s going to be in space. You know what it’s like, chatting in the hall, photos, lunches together, gala dinners…

But this year I am really grateful we’ll have this opportunity to meet, to discuss and share ideas. To hear how our language industry colleagues have struggled with all the negative aspects that Covid and lockdown have brought us. But on the contrary: what positive things they have experienced and learned, both professionally and personally. Feel free to come by our booth on Mars for a chat!
