Michaela Grunclová is back at the wheel of project management and is ready to roll
Energy, insight, humanity. These three words perfectly capture the spirit of our new Head of Project Management, Michaela Grunclová (formerly Vorlová). Her professional journey was briefly paused for an essential project called “maternity and parental leave,” but now Michaela (or Míša, as we call her) is back – energized and full of her signature humor. Curious about her story and why she’s crucial for our team?
Míša has been a key player at České překlady since 2012. After leaving her post as Head of Project Management in 2019 to begin her maternity leave, Kateřina Vávrová stepped in temporarily; now, leadership is changing hands once again. This was no surprise. Míša rejoined our ranks in 2022 when her parental leave came to an end.
Today, she manages teams in Prague and Olomouc, coordinating projects seamlessly across departments and interacting with clients and vendors. She likes it when things are lively and hectic. “I love it when our team clicks – great chats, zero dull moments!” says Míša with a smile.
A coincidence that changed everything
She doesn’t have a background in philology or linguistics – which is a bit unusual in our growing team – but she’s unquestionably an enormous asset to us. Why? Well, Míša has stellar organizational skills, a knack for technology, and thanks to her 13 solid years at České překlady, she can anticipate situations before they even arise.
“I trained as a secretary – I’ve even got a diploma to prove it! And I actually picked up English by playing video games in high school,” she reveals with a wink. She laughs as she remembers joining České překlady purely as a coincidence: “I genuinely had no idea what I was getting into, but I learned everything step-by-step. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity. Now, I’m happy to have a job I love and feel confident doing. And I work alongside people I genuinely adore. Honestly, I can’t picture myself doing anything else now.”
Excelling under pressure
“Give me a deadline, and I’ll make the impossible happen!” Michaela jokes with infectious enthusiasm. This attitude helps her to find brilliant solutions where others might stumble, handling even the most daunting challenges effortlessly. A perfect example is when she organized an express translation of 81 legal volumes in three days – a legendary feat of project management!
Outside of office hours, Míša unleashes her creative side. She’s been a member of the Lucky Voice Band choir for eight years now. When she’s not busy parenting her energetic son, affectionately known as “Raptor,” she turns to sewing – creating beautiful items for herself, her family, and for commissions. She also loves painting and writes a witty, heartfelt blog called How We Became Country Bumpkins, chronicling the adventures of village life and the trials and tribulations of renovating their family home.
