To a certain extent, but it comes with limitations. Automatic OCR conversion can be a quick fix, but the output often comes with issues: incomplete or separated blocks of text, broken sentences, misread characters and text prone to changing unpredictably when further edited. A document converted in this way is usually unsuitable for translation or editing.
These errors might seem minor, but some (such as wrong numbers, names or addresses) can slip through the software unnoticed. Without human intervention and thinking in a broader context, the resulting text can be unreliable and risk serious misunderstandings.
Another unpleasant drawback of a fully automatic OCR tool is that it often skips whole parts of text, rearranges paragraphs or changes their order compared to the original. That’s why careful intervention by someone who knows what to look for and how to put the text exactly as intended is invaluable.
