České překlady awarded for social responsibility
In the early evening of Monday 13 November, the 2022 awards for social responsibility were presented in the Red Church in the centre of Olomouc.
České překlady was awarded 2nd place in the Business Sector category for companies with up to 50 employees.
This was the third time awards were announced in this competition held under the auspices of the Olomouc Region. “To be socially responsible, not only in your business but also in your community, is one of the key topics of the 21st century. The aim of this competition is to appreciate and thank all those who go the extra mile and do something more than what they are required to do by law,” is what Jan Šafařík, Deputy Governor for Regional Development, said about the competition.
This prestigious award is open to entrepreneurs, companies, municipalities, schools, and educational institutions, as well as non-profit organisations. Self-assessment reports, which were evaluated by managers from the Czech Board of Quality, served as the basis for the competition.
We regularly give back a portion of our profits to the society.
Both the owners of our translation agency, Václav Baláček and Lukáš Utíkal, attended the gala evening held in the charming premises of the newly renovated Red Church.
The second place for social responsibility in 2022 was an unexpected surprise.
“We know that we are one of the largest language service providers in the Czech Republic today, and we want to make sure that part of our profit is returned to the society by our sincere interest in others and what is happening around us. We are linguists who are trying to understand not only foreign languages but also the needs of those who may have been less fortunate in life,” says Václav Baláček about the award.
It is not just about the work of management; social responsibility is everyone’s business at our company. “We are a relatively small company in terms of the number of employees and this success has shown us how crucial the approach of each team member is to our collective success. For us, as management, it is a signal that it is really important to try to create such a company environment and culture that we have a stable team around us sharing the same values,” adds Václav Baláček.
Lukáš Utíkal, co-owner of České překlady, adds to this: “Unlike manufacturing companies, for instance, the environmental impact of our business is not such a big issue for us, because we only impose a minimal burden on the natural environment. Thus, we pursue our social responsibility more within the company, in relation to the people who have devoted their professional careers to us.”
Language is the source of our business, and also often part of our social responsibility efforts
As you may know, we especially focus on education (languages, language training, literature), health (social and charity aid), and arts and cultural projects.
In 2022 we supported the following projects: Health Clown, ARPOK, Olomouc Baroque Festival, P-centrum, Doctors Without Borders, Albatros Media, and Caritas Czech Republic. We regularly inform you about where and how we help on our website and via social media.
“We are happy that we received the award and it is a commitment for us to continue to work actively so that language as a tool can be both a business and a help,” add the owners of the translation agency.
